If this sounds like a company that you would like to work for, now is your opportunity! FYidoctors - Delta is seeking a full time FINISHING TEAM LEAD for our Optical Laboratory. We need to fill this full-time position immediately. We are looking for an individual with exceptional time-management, leadership and coaching, planning, organization and communication skills.

The ideal candidate would work Monday – Friday from 6:30am – 3:00 pm. Occasional overtime is required.

This role is responsible for a high volume, high quality prescription eyewear manufacturing operation. Ensuring production assembly of eyewear is actively engaged to meet daily customer demand and production schedule. Responsible for streamlining the operation of the Finishing Department in alignment with the business objectives of the organization. Acquires and maintains a detailed understanding of the product, processes and equipment in the Finishing department. Understands the entire finishing workflow from tracing, blocking, edging, drilling, and assembly to final RX verification. In addition, is responsible for supervising, developing and training the Finishing team along with overseeing all aspects of the day to day operations. The Finishing Team Lead provides effective training to the employees and ensures safety and quality standards are maintained at all times. Identify inefficiencies and deficiencies within operations for the purpose of developing and implementing enhancements/ improvements.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Adoption of our corporate culture and DNA of enhancing the lives of our patients.
• Build and secure a supportive working environment which encourages innovation and commitment.
• Coaching and development- Provide effective on-the-job training and guidance to team members making use of Company provided programs. Deliver clear, motivating and constructive feedback in a timely manner to finishing staff.
• Maintains and operates, blocking, edging and finishing equipment. Essential duties include: measuring lens power, cutting lenses to the size and shape required to fit specified frames, edging and bevelling lenses, drilling lenses and assembling eyeglasses. Finishes and prepares lenses for customer's glasses including mounting, frame adjustments, final inspection including axis checks and cosmetics.
• Coordinates and cooperates with Maintenance department on equipment repairs, adjustments and servicing when necessary.
• Performs and documents any necessary processes, calibration, preventive maintenance, control charts/reports, safety checks, and conformance testing on all finishing equipment.
• Plans and manages innovations to existing processes, implementation of new processes, and installation of new equipment.
• Work with Production Manager(s) and other team leads to manage and prioritize staffing assignments to ensure customer demand and the production schedule are met.
• Execute and coordinate employee training to ensure that procedures are followed and meet all quality requirements.
• Report problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials and labor to Production Manager(s).
• Update production metrics and facilitate regular team communication.
• Identify and support continuous improvement efforts with Production Manager(s).
• Sustain and drive lean manufacturing and 5S activities.
• Participate as an active member of the production assembly team and assembles products.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.
• Acquires and maintains a detailed understanding of the products, processes and equipment required for lab process
• Utilize proven problem solving methods, and technical resources to resolves process problems to maintain maximum process yields.
• Maintains consumable inventory, process tooling, fixtures, and equipment to ensure proper functioning and optimum throughput at all times.
• Analyzes lens production quality and make machine and/or process adjustments when appropriate.
• Provides daily, on-going informal feedback to staff to ensure skill development.
• Coordinates with Human Resources and Production Manager for appropriate staffing levels.
• Performs corrective counselling in conjunction with Human Resources and Production Manager to production staff where appropriate, addresses poor performance or contravention of FYidoctors company policies.
• Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or directed by senior management.



1. Education & Experience:
• 3-5 years previous experience in an optical finishing lab with practical knowledge of all aspects of the RX lens finishing process. Experience in advanced finishing techniques.
• Minimum of 3-4 years of supervisory experience with proven record of leadership skills.
• Demonstrated analytical problem solving skills.
• Aptitude with machinery is considered an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain a disciplined structured work environment.
• Experience working in a high speed manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communications.


• Experience leading teams or projects strongly desired.
• Lean manufacturing and continual process improvement experience.
• Demonstrated competency, in the use of diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot, controls systems, robotics, and automated equipment.
